MusicTECH

Strip To It is a registered trademark of DBAR Productions, LLC, doing business as MusicTECH.

MusicTECH

MusicTECH was founded in Seattle in 1993 by producer, composer, and recording engineer Stephen "Da Brayne" Sherrard. Steve was given the nickname "Da Brayne" by some of his clients due to his extensive technical background and his ability to work wonders with sound in the recording studio.

Steve studied Electrical & Computer Engineering in college, and then served as a Nuclear Engineering Officer for the U.S. Navy for five years after college. He comes from a strong musical family and has been playing music since the third grade.

The Early Days

"Being a music producer and recording engineer is the perfect marriage of the two things I was always best at... music and technology! In my teen years I played around with home stereo equipment by making mix tapes and humorous recordings with my friends. But, it wasn't until I got my first 4-track recorder in college and started recording demos with my college band that the light bulb finally came on and I realized what I wanted to do for a living. The five years I spent as a Nuclear Engineer for the Navy after college allowed me the opportunity to travel all around the USA and practice my recording skills by producing demos for various singer/songwriters in my free time."

The "Big Time"

All that practicing paid off, and, after leaving the Navy, Steve landed a staff position as a recording engineer at one of the largest studio facilities in the Seattle area, Triad Studios. While at Triad Studios, Steve expanded his skills working on top of the line equipment in world class rooms with a wide variety of independent, as well as the occasional major label, artists.

MusicTECH was Steve's side business, doing music production for local artists out of his own project studio. After a few years, word of mouth had spread, and MusicTECH had grown into a large enough business that Steve decided to go fully independent.

At about the same time, Steve launched his own line of products for musicians called "Peformance Loops", which are distributed world wide by Big Fish Audio. With the Performance Loops series, Steve was fortunate to be able to work with the top studio musicians in the area, as well as major label artists such as Queensryche drummer Scott Rockenfield, and Tower Of Power trumpet player and arranger Greg Adams. The Performance Loops product line continues to be successful, and new products for the line are constantly in development.

DBAR Productions

DBAR Productions started when Steve was looking for a new name for his production company that would distinguish it from the MusicTECH studio business. DBAR Productions seemed like as good of name as any, and one that wasn't being used by any other companies.

After working with and watching so many talented artists struggle to make a name for themselves in the music business, Steve decided it was time to try something a little different...

"Sex On Da Brayne"

"I had been testing out some playfully sexy music on MP3.com under the alias of Da Brayne for about a year, and doing much better than I thought I could. In less than a year I had over 240,000 downloads, several songs that charted at #1 in their genre for several months in a row, as well as three songs that made it into the overall top 40! But, I had no desire to be a performing artist, nor did I want to compete for radio play on corporate radio or for rack space in the major record stores."

Why not "Strip To It"?

"Like all men, I'm visually stimulated and I love it when my wife does sexy dances for me, especially when she's dancing to my own sexy music. Strip To It just seemed to be the perfect way to get my music out there to the type of people who might enjoy it most. The extensive instructional video and interactive multimedia content that we added on to the CD was my way of trying to add extra value to the product. Let's face it, music CD prices are still fairly high when you consider that you can get a DVD now days with a LOT more content for just a few dollars more."

"I wanted to make Strip To It instructional, but with the music part of the CD being the main focus, and all the instructional material being the 'Special Features'. However, I always believe in giving people much more than what they paid for, so we worked hard to pack as much quality content into each product as we possibly could. The all new Core Moves & Fantasies DVD packs the disc with over an hour of instructional video content, plus more than an hour's worth of the unique and exclusive Performance Videos, as well as lots of bonus material, including all the fantasy theme soundtracks in MP3 format!  The Strip To It - Bump n' Grind DVD is also completely packed with 120 minutes of digital video, and also includes a completely packed CD with 74 minutes of non-stop music. On the original Strip To It, we were able to squeeze over 40 minutes of instructional video from several professional dancers and instructors, as well as extensive written content, into the left over space after the audio portion of the CD."

Major "Bang For The Buck"!

"I think Strip To It more than delivers on its promise to 'Spice Up Your Love Life'! I know that the Strip To It discs certainly worked for my wife and I, as well as several of our married friends that 'tested out' the products for us while we were developing then."

The Future

"I'm very excited about expanding the series in the future, and we already have several more DVD and CD product ideas in the works!"
